DETERMINED SUICIDE.

HOSPITAL PATIENT’S RASH ACT. AUCKLAND, July 15. Florence Spencer, married, a resident of Epsom, a patient in the hospital, threw herself from a balcony in full view of the other patients. She fell a distance of 20ft to the ground, and sustained a fractured skull and other bodily injuries which resulted in her death in a- few minutes. The evidence at the inquest showed that deceased, immediately before the fatality, appeared happy, and showed no signs of mental depression. After conversing with a she said she would go for a short walk. In returning she had a frightfully mad expression, and she walked to the balcony and threw herself over. The coroner returned a verdict according to the evidence, and added that the action was one of sudden suicidal impulse, no blame being attachable to the hospital authorities.
