COURSING

NEW ZEALAND COURSING ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the council of the above association was hold on Thursday, and was attended by Messrs B. S. Irwin (chairG. Nelson (Nelson), J. M. Muir and J. Ronald (Invercargill), Owen Kelly (Gore), E. Price (Greymonth), R. G. Anderson (Reefton), and H. Andrews and J. J. Ronghan (Dunedin). A telegram was received appointing Mr Anderson representative for Reefton. It was agreed to grant the affiliation pending the application papers being in order. The following coursing dates were granted:—Southland, July 29 and 30; Reefton, August 25; Dunedin, August 21 and 22. Applications for the control of the Waterloo to ho run dring the month of June, 1915, were received from Invercargill, Dunedin, and Greymonth. It was decided to hold tho applications over until August 21. Tho stake was set down at £3OO, to consist of 64- dogs at £5 ss, payment of fees to bo spread over a period of 10 months. The Registration Committee reported having received upwards of 80 registrations for the naming of greyhounds, but owing to the fact that the association’s register was still retained by Mr Sumpter (late secretary), the applications could not be granted with any degree of safety. Strong exception was taken to Mr Sumpter’s action in not forwarding the books and property as promised. It was resolved, on tho motion of Mr Kelly, seconded by Mr H. Andrews, that the secretary make a further request for the books, and moneys belonging to the association. Messrs Andrews, Irwin, and the secretary were empowered a sub-committee to arrange tho matter. DUNEDIN COURSING CLUB. Mr H. Andrews presided over a meeting of the above held on Thursday. The secretary reported that permission had been granted for the use of Forbnry Park for a two days’ coursing meeting on August 21 and 22. It was agreed to give a stake of £75 for the Maiden, and that seven dogs receive moneys from the stake. An Open Stake .and Supplementary Stake were also included in the programme. Mr H. S. Irving (Invercargill) was appointed judge. The Grounds Committee reported that the escapes -were having their attention, and that all repairs and alterations would bo completed in time' for the’first batch of hares which will come to hand next week. Tho secretary stated that there was a credit balance over tho last meeting.
