NEW PLYMOUTH ACCIDENTS. TWO MEN SEVERELY INJURED. (Fbom Ocb Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 19. V xather exciting* incident occurred at a clearing sale of pedigree Jerseys at Mr W. V. Harknoss’s (lanki) yesterday. Mr A Corley was leading the well-known bull, ‘‘ Rozelli s Sultan," when the animal suddenly turned and gored him. There was a o-eneral scramble for safety, but Mr M'Guinness, who was in the ring, at once went to the rescue and secured the bull. Mr Cowley was removed to the Stratford Hospital, but it is understood that he is not dangerously injured. _ A somewhat serious accident occurred in Devon street yesterday, when a horse belonging to Mr G. Lawrence (of Vogeltown) bolted from the Melbourne corner with a light dog-cart, of which the only occupant was Mr J. Lawrence, father of the owner. The animal had got rid of the blinkers, and Mr Lawrence was therefore powerless. In the centre of the town the horse swerved, narrowly missing a serious collision with the Eitzroy bus, which was standing opposite Messrs Morey and Sons’ premises. The bus- however, turned across the street, and the horse and trap dashed between it and the verandah post. The trap became wedged, the harness broke, and the horse got clear. Mr Lawrence was thrown violently against the side of the bus and then to the ground, sustaining such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the hospital.
The Okaiawa correspondent of the Hawera Star says that a young Swiss, just arrived from Switzerland, made a bad start in the new country. He was engaged by a settler, and on the first day had the misfortune to break his leg in two places through a fall from a horse. Wolfe’s Schnapps will keep the system free from the causes of kidney affections.
