TIMARU ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

TIMARU, July 9.

Tho first meeting of the newly-elected council of the local Acclimatisation Society to-ejay reached a deadlock before any business was transacted. At the election threo members were declared elected whose nominations were accepted after the notified timo. Tho secretary had refused them, but the annual meeting decided to accept them. Th» objectors consulted tho society’s solicitor, who advised that the nominations had been wrongly accepted, and the next three on tho list must be declared elected. At today’s meeting the three who had been declared elected and the three whom the solicitor stated should have been declared turned up, and all claimed seats, counsel's opinion being produced by both parties. Thoi whole business was tied up, and probably an. appeal will be made to the Supreme Court to decide the dispute.
