LOCAL OPTION
SYDNEY, July 9. Replying to a New South Wales Alliance deputation, who asked for the bare majority vote on the issues of the earlier closing of hotels and of State option, the Minister of Justice said the pressure of business made it impossible for these requests to be considered this session. He promised to place them before his colleagues next session, but he saw littlehope of securing much in the way of liquor reform from the present Parliament. Until they could get in each electorate a strong party absolutely determined to put the liquor question first and foremost, it would be no use blaming Parliament for not doing what the alliance wanted.
