SUIT FOR COMPENSATION FAILS. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 7. Mr Justice Stringer delivered judgment in the case in which the widow of Francis Smith, the victim of the Kairaata tragedy, sued his employers, the New Zealand Express Company, for compensation for his death when engaged in work on behalf of the company. The Judge held that death was not directly due to any special risk arising from the nature of hie employment, and gave judgment for the defendants, with tosts.
