WELLINGTON. December 5. Judgment was lodged by the Court of Arbitration in the ease o£ Mary Ann M'lntosh v. William Ernest Hughes, a claim for compensation for the loss of plaintiff's -son, who was riding the mare Biddy at Blenheim on November 21, 1912, and was thrown, dying from his injuries on December 6. M'lntosh, whose ago was 17, was apprenticed to Pritchard, who stated that Hughes, the owner of Biddy, had selected M'lntosh to ride in the race, while Hughes swore that Pritchard had proposed M'lntosh as jockey, the defendant assenting. Mr Justice Sim held that M'lntosh had remained for all purposes the servant of Pritchard, and plaintiff was not entitled to recover any compensation from defendant-
