YARRA BAY TRAGEDY
SYDNEY, August 27.
The Government is offering £IOO reward for information in connection with the Yarra Bay murder, also a free pardon to any accomplice informing, provided ha is not the actual murderer.
On Monday week the body of a man wa* found in the scrub at Yarra Bay, close to the cable- station, at Botany Bay.
Dr Sheldon discovered that death war duo to a bullet wound in the heart. Thera was a small perforation in the back, which was hardly noticeable. Holes were found in tho clothing which corresponded to tha wound, and appearances pointed to tha fact that the bullet had not been fired from close quarters. A woman identified tho body as that of her husband, Charles John Stratton (33), wharf labourer, lately residing in Outrim street, Surry Hills. 'He had been missing from home since Sunday week, going out shortly after breakfast. Dr Sheldon was of opinion when he saw the body that death had taken place about 36 hours previously.
