DUNEDIN EXPANSION LEAGUE
Tho monthly meeting- of the executive of the, Dunedin Expansion League was held on August 28. There were present Messrs A. Bathgate (chairman), G. Fenwick, A. Moritzson P. R. Sargood, P. Duncan, J. 11. Wilkinson, 11. K. Wilson, and J. Ingl.s Wright. It was resolved: “That the committee record its appreciation of the late Mr Arbor’s services, and extreme regret at his untimely death, and express its condolences to the widow.”
Communications were received from tho Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Fraser, and a groat many of the members of Parliament promising to give every assistance in having an amount put on the Estimates for the continuance of the Otago railways. Several recommendations from the various special committees were dealt with, and it was decided to offer a prize of £2 2s for the befit motto for tho league, and a further prize of £2 2s for the best device for tho
league. Mr Bathgate reported on his visit to Singapore and the East, and it was decided to suggest to the Government Tourist Department tho advisability of preparing a pamphlet, on the sport offering in New Zealand, and a further one dealing with the dominion’s tourist resorts, for circu’ation in the East.
Mr J. L. Stewart Wright, who has been acting as secretary to the league since the illness of the late Mr Arbor, was appointed permanent secretary.
