HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP, of SOsovs; second £7 10s, third £2 10s from stakes. Distance, about two miles. Minimum weight, lOst 71b. Open to qualified hunters that have never won an advertised steeplechase of the value of more than SOsovs at time of nomination. Nomination, 255; acceptance, 15s. 3. HURDLE RACE.—Open to efficient members of sth Regiment N.Z.M.R. (Otago Hussars). Distance, one mile and a-half. Minimum weight, list. Over six flights of hurdles. All horses to bo owned by riders. WEIGHTS for HANDICAPS will appear in the local press on WEDNESDAY, September 10 ACCEPTANCES CLOSE 8 p.m. on TUESDAY, September 16. For Nominations and Acceptances the Secretary will be in attendance at the Board Room of the Dunedin Jockey Club between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on these dates. All races to bo run under New Zealand Rules of Racing. 3. Riders in races for qualified hunters must produce at the scale a certificate of qualification if required. 4. Riders in hurdle races, or any steeplechase. must weigh out with a skull cap. 5. Nominations must be accompanied by a statement of previous performances (if any), and the age and colour of the horses entered ; and whether it bo a horse, mare, or gelding, and the name of its sire and dam (if known). 6. All races must be run in colours, and a description of same must bo handed in with acceptances. 7. No person shall be allowed to start or ride a horse in races 1,5, or 6 unless he is a member of a hunt, and paid his member’s subscription to his Hunt before date of nominarion. 8. Riders in races 1,3, 5. and 6 must hold a gentleman rider’s certificate or an emergency rider’s certificate, which will be issued up to 2 p.m. on day of races. 9 Riders in races 2 and 4 must hold a professional license or a license as pieceding clause. During the four weeks ended on Wednesday. 147 men were sent to employment of various kinds.
