, —*•>? LONDON, June 11.. There was a brilliant reception to Sl* J. Henniker Heaton at the Guildhall, 500 notable persons being present, the Lord Mayor presiding. Lord Curzon, in pre* senting an album containing the signatures of 1000 leading public men through* out the Empire, said.it was. a remark-' able meeting, held in honour a remarkable man. Sir J. Henniker Heaton had, by his firm grasp of a great idea and by his unwearying tenacity, proved himself a benefactor of mankind. Lord Curzon described Sir J. Henniker leaton's work as one in the intereata of nternational peace, Imperial unity, and .ommercial progress. Sir J. Henniker Heaton, in returning hanks, referred to the help he. had ceived from Mr Joseph Chamberlain, the Government would spend -what ifc i spent on mail subsidies 70 years ago could have penny-a-word cable* to the ost distant possessions.
