NORWEGIAN WHALERS.

ANOTHER FLEET COMING. . (From Odb Own CcmRESPONDBNT.) INVERCARGILL, June 17.

Much has been -said Mid'Wjrittep of late concerning the exploitations of whaling companies in both -the northern . and southern waters of Mew-Zealand. The Dannevig Company and the New Zealand. Company have been mentioned for '.some considerable time, and now a third company has been added to the list of whaling ventures, this one trading under the i>, title of the Australian Whaling Gempany. This -fleet, which comprises three vessels, arrived at Hobart from Norway during the past week, and after paying a visit to Melbourne the boats are expected 'to make for Bluff. Captain Ellelsen is in command of the new fleet.

The Dannevig Company's boats are now operating in and around Stewart Island waters. Since operations were commenced in May last about a dozen whales have been captured. The New Zealand "Whaling Company's vessels—Eagle, Hawk,. Whangarei, and Whangaroa —under ,the command of Captain Hasle, arrived at Westport on Thursday last. After taking in a supply of coal it is reported that two of the vessels will come south, the others proceeding to Russell, the base of operations in northern ■waters. The Prince George Hakiura have yet to arrive before ,the iull complement of the New Zealand Company's fleet wilF be made up. The Prince George is fitted out with a boiling-down apparatus for the traiment of the whaks, while the Hakiura will -act as a tender.
