OAMARU FIRE BOARD.
(Fhoji Oub Own Cobrespondent.)
OAM ARU, June 17. The annual meeting of the Oarharu Fire Board was held to-day, when Mr K-. Milligan was re-elected chairman. °The Chairman stated that the whole cost of the new fire station, amounting to £1053, together with the cost of the plant to the amount of £526, had been practically liquidated, all that remained being" an annual payment to the Borough Council in respect to the site, which would, in terms of the act, continue for some years. The estimate of requirements for the ensuing year was passed at £360. By four, votes to three it was decided for the future to pay the expenses of the three Dunedin members, the three dissentients being the representatives of the Borough Council, who, while disclaiming any personal feeling in the matter, said they opposed the proposal on principle, as they thought the insurance companies could secure resident representatives. A vote of thanks wus passed to the Volunteer Fire Brigade, Mr Chalmer, of '" Dunedin, speaking in terms of high satisfaction with Superintendent James and the brigade generally.
