CLYDESDALE AND HACKNEY IMPORTATIONS.

Half a dozen Clydesdales selected by Mr J. R. Mackenzie are at present on board the Delphic at Auckland, a,nd are to be landed at the Bluff. Accompanying them a five-year-old hackney stallion by the famous Mathiaa has been brought out. Unfortunately a two-year-old filly by Baron's Pride, from Rosie of Bombie, by MacGregor, died before reaching Auckland. The loss is all the heavier in that she hadjDeen served by Royal Favourite. Appended are the particulars as to their breeding:— Harviastoun Rita (28739 k foaled 1910; sire, Baron's Pride; dam, Quality (14420); second dam. Lavender (5075); third dam, Lilv (650), By Prince of Wales (673). Etta (21528), foaled 1904 j sire, Prince Thomas (10262); dam. Lady Hugo (vol. xxii, p. 73), by Sir Hugo (10924). This is the dam of Royal Marcellus. Dunure Thomas (15814); sire, Montrose Prince (11834) ; dam, Carina II (16323), by Hiawatha (10067); second dam, Carina (12313), by Craichmore Darnley (5667).- This is a great fine colt of good colour, and! plenty of substance and quality. Lady Alicia (19181), foaled 1904; sire, Baron Mitchell (10688); first dam, Gogar Bell (16525); second dam, Maggie of Gogar Bank, by Good Hope (2146), by Blane (76). In foal to Apukwa. Peerless (28346), foaled 1908; sire, Perfect Motion (13123); dam. Peeress (16388), bv Sir Christopher (10286): second dam. Prime of Glamis (14062), by Maui's of Airiee (10379).

Mary of Croftheade (28272), foaled 1910; sir©, Dunure James (13452); first dam, Jess of Croftheads (28270), by Sherrie of Lothian (10284). Hackney stallion, foaled 1906, Harvicstoiin Matador (11058); sire, Mathias (6473); dam, Asphsdel (3419), by Rufus (1343); second dam. Countess (424), by Denmark. This is a brown horse of good colour and a great mover, and runs to six registered dams.
