D.J.C. COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the D.J.C. committee was held last week; present— Messrs P. Miller (in the chair), L-. C. Hazlett, J. Gow, W. J. Gore, J. W. Thomson, W. Charters, E. H. Lough, S. Myers, H. Salmon, and W. J. Oougnlasn. The Band Committee reported having accepted the tender of the Citizens' Band for the balance of the season.—Approved. The Works Committee reported the terms upon which it had agreed to the Waikouaiti meeting being held at Wihgatui, and that permission had been granted to run the trotting races on the inner grass track if the plough was not suitable.—Approved. The Chairman of the Racing Conference forwarded a circular letter stating his opinion on the question of' allowances to a.p-' prentices in selling races and races of stated weights, and asking that the same be adopted until the next meeting of the conference. —Agreed to. W. Aldred wirote stating that the horse Xylodime won the Arrow Hack Race at the Lake County meeting, and that hi 3 horse Summertime ran second. Since the meeting it had come to his knowledge that Xylodine was not nominated for the race until after the first day's races, and that the club has been requested not to pay the stakes. He. asked that the D.J.C make full inquiries into the matter in fairness to all parties concerned.—lt was resolved that a copy of the letter be forwarded to the Lake~Club for an explanation. Mr W. G. Gore was appointed timekeeper in place of Mr F. J. Townsend (resigned). .
