EXCLUSION OF CHINESE
WASHINGTON, August 9.
A bill has been introduced into tha Senate radically altering the immigration laws. It proposes to repeal the Chinese exclusion laws and replace thorn with a law providing for the exclusion of persons not eligible to become naturalised citizens, exceptions being made in favour of Government officers, travellers, and members of,,the learned professions. It is not proposed to alter the existing laws prohibiting Chinese from becoming naturalised citizens.' Boards of inquiry will be provided to decide disputed questions regarding the admissibility of aliens.
