PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Peninsula Road Board held on the 6th, wias attended by Messrs Garr (chairman). Black, Ahken, and Riddell. Mrs Braid wrote asking the board to have the sand removed from the road near Beattie’s. —The board decided that it could not see its way to have this work done.— Messrs Aitken and Black reported that they had inspected the road, and recommended the board to widen and fill it in between Bacon and Morris’s, on Ferguson’s road. —Agreed to. The clerk was authorised to obtain poisoned grain. The Clerk reported that a tender from C. Cunningham had been accepted to quarry and break metal at Sanciymount at 2s 5d per yard; also a tender from W. .West-fold for 30 yards of metal for Highcliff at 3s 3d per yard. With respect to an agreement between Mr Garr (chairman), Mr Riddell (member), and Mr J. Westfold (contractor) and Mr A. Rodger (contractor), in r© transfer of John Westfold’s contract at Weipor’s Gully, Sondymount, the beard decided not to agree to the transfer, but to hold Mr. Westfold responsible for the completion of the work. The Clerk to the Portobello Road Board wrote asking the board to pay half-cost of repairing Manse road I .—Mr Black was authorised to inspect the road 1 , and to report next meeting. _ The hoard’s engineer w r as instructed to prepare plan of the proposed new deviation at Highcliif. Also to interview the owners of property affected as to compensation. The surfaceman, ivas instructed to erect B fence with iron standards at the dangerous part of the Rocks, Sandymount road. A deputation from the Bay Town Board, consisted of Messrs Pryor, Anderson, and

Couston, waited on. the board in re footpaths in Tainui.—Tho board decided that it could not see its way to do anything in tho matter. Permission was granted to Mr Couston, Bay Town engineer, to open the roads to convey water to the residents of Tainui. Accounts amounting to £336 Is Id were passed for payment. .
