THE DEFAULTING TERRITORIAL.
WELLINGTON, August'3.
William Cornish, the youth who served 21 days’ imprisonment for failing to register as a Territorial, was released from gaol this morning. An intended demonstration at the prison gate did not eventuate. He will he presented at the Socialists’, Hall to-morrow evening . with two medals—one from the Christchurch Anti-Military League and another from the Runanga Miners’ Union.
August 4. About 300 people gathered to-night in the < Socialists’ Hall, when the youth, William Cornish, who served 21 days in gaol rather than register under the Defence Act, was presented with n gold medal from the Runanga Anti-conscription League. Mr J. Roberts (president of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Federation of Labour) presided, and Mr R. Semple (Federation organiser) made the presentation.
