OBITUARY.
LORD CHANCELLOR OF IRELAND. LONDON, August 14. The death of Sir Samuel Walker, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, is announced. [Sir Samuel Walker, who was created a baronet in 1906, was horn in. 1832. He was Solicitor-general for Ireland from 1883 till 1885. and was appointed Attorneygeneral in the latter year. He was Lord Chancellor of Ireland from 1892 till 1895, and was then appointed Lord Justice of Appeal, holding that office till 1905, when he again took up tlh© position of Lord Chancellor. He represented Londonderry in Parliament in 1884 and 1835.]
MR JOSEPH ISRAELS. THE HAGUE, August 13. The death of Mr Joseph Israels, the Dutch painter, is announced. [The deceased was a corresponding member of the Institute of Prance and a member of the Academy of Painting at Antwerp and of The Hague. Ho was born at Groningen on January 27, 1824, and studied at Amsterdam under Kruseman and at Paris under Picquet. He received gold medals of honour at Paris, Brussels, and Rotterdam, the Belgian Order of Leopold, the French Legion of Honour, and the Grahd Prix at the Paris Exhibition in 1889. He was elected correspondent of the Academy of Fine Arts in 1885.]
