PRESENTATION TO MR SELIG.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 29. Mr P. Selig (president of the New Zealand Trotting Association), who is about to leave on a health trip to Sydney, has been presented with a purine of 100 guineas from the trotting clubs throughout New Zealand and also those racing clubs including trotting events on their programmes. The Hon. C. Louisson (president of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club), who made the presentation, eaid Mr Selig had been president of the South Island Trotting Association for two years, and president of the New Zealand Trotting Association ever since its formation in 1899. That record spoke volumes for one who occupied such a responsible position, where he was bound to be subject to a great deal of criticism. Besides that, Mr Selig had been president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference for four years in succession, so that he had been able to obtain and retain the confidence of members.
