ALL-RED ROUTE

OTTAWA, May 11

Sir W. Laurier announces that Canada and New Zealand are ready to contribute their shares to an "AH Red" route, and only awaited the action of Britain and Australia. He understood that Australia •was not ready yet,, but he hoped a definite result from the discussion thereon at the Imperial Conference. MELBOURNE, May 12.

Mr Hughes, in referring to Sir Wilfrid Laurier's statement regarding the British and Australian attitude towards the AllRed route, .declared that the proposal had neveT been brought before the Australian Government in a definite way. Australia could not deal with the project until a definite proposal was made by the British Government. % Australia would be prepared to play her part in connection with a well-considered practical proposal.
