The ingenuity of rats is well-known, but a recent Stratford incident seems hardly credible. A gentleman hung a pheasant by a piece of string to a round iron bar in his shop, there being a fair amount of string between the head of the pheasant and the bar; but on entering his shop next morning the .gentleman l found that a rat had been nibbling at the pheasant, having by some means crawled along the bar and let iteelf down to the bird.
