PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.
The regular meeting of the Peninsula Road Board was hold on the 6th, and was attended by Messrs Riddell (chairman), Black, Brunton, Aitken, and Gourley.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing 'year:—Chairman, !Mr Jas. Garr;- treasurer, Mr Wm. Gourley. The clerk reported that a tender for quarrying and breaking metal in Riddell's crcarry hcid; been accepted from Carl Robertson, at 3s per yard. Mrs C. Weir wrote' stating that the entrance to hei r property bad been taken away by the contract at Weeper's Gully.— The board decided to replace the entrance on the completion of the present contract. The dog tax was fixed for the year ending December 31, 1911, at 2s 6d. Mr Aitken ga.ve notice that he would move at next meeting that a general rato of three-farthings in the £ be levied on all rateable property within the Peninsula. Road District, payable in one sum on the sth day of June, 1911. The board decided to invite tenders for carting metal from Roger's quarry. It was resolved that half of the main road be metalled when passed by the Engineer. Mr Fleming asked" that some reoairs be effected on his road. It was dcidect that the work be attended to when taking out the metal. The members for Sandymount were authorised to arrange with Mr Fleming to erect a fence at the edge of the road at Sandymount.
Messrs Begg and Franco were present to ask the board to allow the surface water from the portion of Onflow street, situated in St. Kilda, to be delivered on Bowen street; also that the board be responsible for same, Messrs France and Rhodes undertaking to pay all charges whatsoever. —The request was granted. It was resolved that in future the meetings be held at 1 p.m.. Accounts amounting to £133 2s Id were passed for payment.
