THE FARMER'S BEST PAPER.

A glimpse at the current number of the Pastoralists' Review gives abundant indication of the reasons of the growing- popularity in New Zealand of this remarkable publication. Here we have a magazine of nearly, 200 pages, generously and wisely illustrated, and containing, apart from a. mass of valuable special matter, a thorough and luminous review of the month's progress in everything relating to the pastoral and kindred industries of Australasia. The editorial comment is impartial, authoritative, and up to date. The special articles are full of interesting and timely stuff. One of the best this month, perhaps, is the note on " The Constitutional Aspect ot a Graduated Land Tax," written by Dr Richard Arthur, M.L.A., a prominent Australian lawyer and publicist. The subject is one of grave importance to all landholders in New Zealand, and Dr Arthur's view of it is exceedingly reasonable and keen. In fact, there is matter of urgent interest to the farmer on every page of this remarkable review. There is probably no other journal on earth likely to be so useful for reading about a New Zealand homestead, and there certainly can be none more interesting to the farmer who thinks as he reads. To keep in line a man needs to be conversant with the best knowledge obtainable in the province of his caiimir. Especially is that so with regard to the men who have to wrest a living from the land. --. ' The annual subscription of £l, which includes postage, can be sent to any of the following representative agents: —Charles Haines. Wellington; Shirley HarroweU, Auckland; F. H. Tabatt, Christchuroh; Todd and Douglass, Dunedin.
