A MYSTERIOUS DEATH
ST. PETERSBURG, June 2. Count Bonturlin, an officer of the Russian Imperial Guards and heir to £700,000, died suddenly. Count Lyassy, his brother-in-law, and Dr Patchenko have been arrested. The former is charged with bribing the doctor to administer strychnine to his patient. The bodies of Count Bonturlin's two brothers have been exhumed, and traces of poison have been discovered. The boy who wa.S murdered at Warsaw in May is another member of \he family. The St. Petersburg police accuse Dr Patchenko of making a practice of removing wealthy people on behalf of the heirs of estates. They declare that the doctor received £50,000 for each of the alleged murders. June 3. Madame Muravieva has been arrested on a charge of assisting Dr Patchenko in various cases of' poisoning. Count Lyassy is a cousin of the Countess Tarnowska. , June 6. Dr Patchenko has confessed that h» injected a vegetable poison into Count Bonturlin's Veins at Count Lyassy's in» stigation.
