June 3. Dear _ Pasquin,—After a most successful tour, Williamson's "Peter Pan" Company has concluded its season, and left for Sydney to-day by the Maitai. There was a large crowd of admirers on the wharf to bid farewell to players. "La Boheme" will be staged to-night by the Grand Opera Company, and this will be the conchiding opera of a most successful eeason. From here the company go north to Masterton, Palmerston, and Wanganui. The management'has made arrangements for the company to travel by special trains throughout its New Zealand tour.
John Fuller, jun., left for the south on Wednesday, on a business visit to Christchurch, Dunedin, and. Invercargill. After the West Coast trip the George Marlow Company will pas 6 through Welington, en route to Auckland, playing several inland towns on the way. From Auckland the company returns to Sydney. The death is announced from Napier of Mr Henry Lawrence, professionally known as Harry Primrose, an entertainer, who was well known throughout Australasia. Of late he had been giving a Pierrot entertainment on the Napier Marine parade. He leaves a widow and one child.
Mr Ernest Bloy, the well-known violinist, is to give his first public concert in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on the 16th inst. He will be assisted by Mr Horace Hunt, one of Wellington's brilliant pianists. The ladies and gentlemen of the chorus of Williamson's Grand Opera Company believe in making .merry.- On Tuesday night, after the opera, they held a dance and social in the Druids' Hall, and several delightful hours were spent. Messrs Richard Stewart, Henry Bracy, and Signer Hazon were amongst the guests. These gentlemen were delighted to find the ladies and gentlemen indulge in such a pleasant affair, which was a testimony of the good feeling existing amongst them. The Hamilton-Maxwell Dramatic Company commences its season at the Opera House to-morrow night. The pictorials promise something especially thrilling in "Woman and Wine." -
The Wellington Catholic Club is again to appear before the public. In times agone the club has staged Irish drama very successfully, but oti this occasion it will indulge in broad comedy. "Mendle'e Marriage" is the play, and the parts have been allotted thusly:—Lydia Mendle, Miss jvy 'Steott; Mrs Morrison, Miss J. O'Neil; Geraldine Morrison, Miss T. Barrington; Martha, Miss N. Kenny; Montague Mer.clle," Mr Chas. Gamble; Captain Cul-
lender, Mr D. Moriarty ; Archie Wilson, Mr G. Weight; Colonel Roscoe, Mr J M'Donald; Jonas Toddenham, Mr C Pfaff; Michael O'Doeherty, Mr D. Kelly The latter.gentleman is also stage director. The comedy will be played in the Town Hall on 27th and 28th. inst.
"Dr Bill" again, by one of our amateur clubs. This time by the Wellington Dramatic Club at Levin to-night. Mr Charles Blake is to play "Dr Bill," and Mr Norman Aitken "Mr Firman," a part in which he made quite a hit when the club played the comedy in the Opera House. The other parts are being played by Misses Lena Lennox, Iris Lennox, Ivy Scott, Ellwood, Ruby Scott, and' Messrs Frank Lampen, Jack Larssn, Horace Holmes, and W. Wilson.
Val Vousden was in town this week. He is about to tour the Wairarapa. The Grand Opera Company wid play a return season here on its way from North to South Island next month.
