Four cases of dipthtberia have been re*, ported in. Southland during the month—i two in the Winton district, one at Night* cap 3, and the other in Inveroargill. One of tie Winton cases terminated fatally (says the News) before a doctor was summoned. Seven cases of consumption were notified, four of whom died —two at Inveicargill, and two at Gore. An unusual evidence of the voracity of rats was discovered at Napier a few days ago.
