EXPLOSION OF GAS.
SEVERAL PEOPLE INJURED. NET-SON, June 3. An explosion of acetylene gas in the generator shed of Mr W. R. May's establishment at Richmond blew out the shed, and nine or 10 were injured, including Mr W. R. May, his son, and a man named David Hight, an employee. Mr May had lit a match in the shed, when escaping gas caught alight, and an explosion followed. Hight was the most injured, as he was buried in the debris of a portion of the shed. May and son were literally blown out of the shed, and the_ marvel is that they escaped with braises and abrasions. Mr May's beard was nearly burnt off. Only yesterday May's butter factory, connected with the same establishment, was burnt down. The three victims, though painfully hurt,, are not seriously injured. One of the valves proving faulty, the generator was emptied, and the inside was being i examined when the tap was inadvertently
turned on, causing the explosion. The plant was not damaged, and the gas is still being used.
