Th© Sir Donold M'Lean trustees have* not only presented th© borough of Napier with land for a park, to be known as the M'Lean Park, but also with £IOOO for fiUing-in, etc. It is expected that th© cash gift will cover the cost of all necessary work, and that th© park will therefor* become a free and unencumbred gift to the town. During the hearing of a fire insurance ease at the Timaru Supreme Court on) Wednesday, his Honor Mr Justice Sim re* marked upon th© keen competition which existed amongst insurance men, and said that as a result there were over insurance and unnecessary fires.
