LONDON, May 31. Wheat: Dull and neglected. Australian, January-February shipment, about 31s 9d to 325. Bank shares are quoted as follows:—Australasia, £IOB 10s to £lO9 10s; New South Wales, £43 10s to £44 10s (ex div.) ; Union, £62 to £63. June 1. Wheat: An Australian cargo sold at 30s 3d. The market is drooping. Australian cargoes are about 31s. At the tallow auctions 1525" casks were offered and 581 sold at 9d decline. LONDON, June 2. Wheat: Three Australian cargoes eold at 30s 6d, 30s 7£d, and 30s 3d respectively. Tallow: Stceks, 3517 tons : imports, 3414 tons; deliveries, 2390 tons. At the sheepskin sales 4300 bales of Australian and 1300 bales of New Zealand were catalogued. Combings sold at id higher, and other sorts were unchanged. June 3. The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £39,312,000; reserve, £30,517,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 50.72. The notes in circulation total £28,376,000; public, deposits, £23,037,000; other deposits, £37,109,000; Government securities, £14,838,000; and other securities, £32,406,000. Short loans are discounted at 3$ per cent., and three months' bills are discounted as follows: —London, 3i per cent. Consols are quoted at £B2 17s 6d. The following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks, compared with those ruling a week previous: May 27. June 3.

The sugar market is quiet. German, 14s 6d; first marks, 16s lOd. The Bradford wool market is firm, and prices are unchanged. The wheat markets have recovered slightly from the lowest point, and there is some activity in Australian cargoes, three of which have been sold at 3Cs 9d, 31s, and 31s 3d respectively. There is a fair inquiry at .about these prices. The crop prospects of all exporting countries are favourable. Australian spot is dull at from 33s 6d to 345. New Zealand is of very variable quality, and is quoted at 31s to 335. The American visible supply is 37,003,000 bushels. The flour market is dull. Australian patent brands in London and Glasgow are held for 265. & Barley is neglected. Oats are dull. Gartons, 17s 6d to 19s 6d ; sparrowbills, 17s to 18s 9d. La Plata, June-July -shipment, 12s 6d. •The butter market is steady. Choicest Australian. 100 sto 102 s unsalted: occasionally 104 s to 106 s and 107 s. Secondaries are difficult of sale, mostly being stored. At the sheepskin sales there was a large attendance and animated bidding. Practically all were cleared without further change in prices. June 4. Hemp is steady. Spot, £24 15s. Copra is neglected. South Sea is nominally £24. Rabbit'! are flat, and price's unch^nffed. New Zealand white cheese is firm at 575. Coloured is dull at 54s to 55s>. Silver: 2% 5-8 d per. oz. Copper: Spot. £56 12s 6d; three months, £57 8s 9d. Electvolyptio. £59. Tin: Throe months, £l5O ss. Lead: £32 12s 6d. The stock of kauri gum is 321 cases.;
