BRITAIN AND TURKEY
CONSTANTINOPLE, June 6. The British Ambassador has investigated cases in different parts of Turkey wherein officials had violated the terms of their capitulation and Had arrested and prosecuted Britishers or British protected subjects without communicating with the Consuls. The capitulation here referred to is the series of articles by which the Sublime Porte granted to foreigners residing in Turkey and its dependencies extra territorial rights and immunities, such as trial by Consular Courts (in cases were Turkish subjects are not concerned).
