LONDON, May 31. The Parramatta made a successful preliminary run under steam. MELBOURNE, June 1.
The cost of the Commonwealth's battleship cruiser will be about £1,800,000, the hull costing £858,000, the guns £124,928, and the torpedo tubes and other fittings £300,000, and the propelling machinery over £soojooo. The Government is advertising for 200 permanent non-commissioned officers, who will be required for training purposes when the new Defence Act is proclaimed.
