The Buddhists at Darjeeling have petitioned China to recall the Chinese Resi-. dent at Lhassa. to withdraw the troops, to restore the ruined monasteries, and to reinstate the Dalai Lama China., in reply to Russia, has intimated that the deposition of the Dalai Lama -would not affect the Brahmin religion or the internal administration of Tibet. LONDON, March 3. The Earl of Minto, in the course of a telegram", states that the Dalai Lama fled' against the advice of his council and of the National Assembly.
