PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Portobello Road Board was held on Feb. 24, there being- present—Messrs Jas. Dickson (chairman), Macandrew, Fulton, Millar, Raynbird, Hellyer, Bacon, M'Cartney, and Wright.
It was resolved that a deputation of the board be appointed to wait on the Hon. T. Mackenzie to urge the necessity of completing the deviation survey of Dickson's, Hill, on the Hooper's Inlet district road. Owing to disputed boundaries, the chief surveyor will not sign the plans of the deviation 1 .
A petition was received from residents and visitors in Oban township, Broad Bay, askinor the board to take the necessary steps to abate the nuisance of dumping ashes and other obnoxious matter on the street lines.—Members for the subdivision to attend to the matter.
A letter was received from Messrs Haggitt, Brent, and Williams re dedicating the roads in Sunlight township to the board. — It was resolved that the clerk write to the engineer in charge of the works in thtf township, stating that he had not complied with the agreement made with the board as to the work to be done on certain road* and requesting him to have the work put under way at once. Several applications were received to have applicants' names put on the valuation roll for North-East Harbour subdivision. — Granted.
Mr Thomas Grainger was appointed ranger.
