INVERCARGILL HOSPITAL SATURDAY.

ABOUT £SOO COLLECTED. (From Our Own Correspondents.)

INVERCARGILL,

March 6

A Hospital Saturday collection was made in Invercargill yesterday. It was generally anticipated that the collection would fall considerably short of last year's total, and those who made forecasts in this connection .were not unworthy, prophets. The amount announced as collected at 9 p.m. was £369 8s 9d. Lasfc year's amount was £631. With the incoming of belated lists the final collection totalled a little oyer £IOO. ■ The mark set this year was £SOO, and theTe are thosa on the executive who believe that this will be realised. Only a. little more than half the country lists are yet in, and should these be anything like last year's lot the £SOO will be passed. In 1909 26 country stations announced their takings on the evening of Hospital Saturday, and the lot reached £296. This year only 14 stations had communicated with headquarters on Saturday evening, the total being just over £BO. The collection in the town this time is £289, as against* £321 last year. Should £SOO be obtained the result will fully satisfy the executive-:
