A shoemaker of Edmonton, Alberta, who 15 yeai* ago purchased for £75 a clot of land 34ft by 150 ft in what is now a leading thoroughfare of the city nas recentlv disposed, of it to the Dominion Bank for The London County Council is said to be making: £2OOO a year profit out of rowboats in the parks hired out at 6d an hour. There are numerous complaints in South Canterbury concerning the speed at which traction engines travel, and the extent to which they cut up the roads.
