The Mount Ida Caledonian Society, one of the very best country gatherings, has issued its programme for the annual gather - 1 inj on January 1. Such a varied programme of suitable .distances is sure to attract a large entry. At the Burnley Athletic Grounds on Monday the chief attraction was a 120 Yards Sweepstake, in which A. B. I and Tcdd 7£yds. the scratch man was up • with his field at 50yds. but failed to stay, I and Day won from Todd by three-quarters of a yard, with Postle another half-yard away third. W. H. I have made arrangements to have my leg treated by Professor Molando, who is, 1 am informed, the most reputable man for anything of the kind in England. I do hope he will do me some good. The New Zealand Athletic Union's annual general meeting of delegates from centres will be held in Dunedin, commencing Friday, January L at 9:30 a.m., and will continue on the night of January 1 at 8 p.m. If necessary the meeting will continue on 1 the 2nd at 9.30. Mr J. Dalgleish, of Oamaru, who so successfully handicapped at the recent Palinerston sports, will act in a similar capacity for ths Dunback Caledonian Society, which , body has been registered with the N.Z.A. Union. j Mr W. G. Callender, secretary Ormondi \ille Athletic Club, tends mi? a programme ! for the annual gathering of his club on '' Boxing Day. The c\ cnts cater for all , classes of athletes, and as the money prizas are liberal, a successful gathering should result. The Kelso and Greenvale Caledonian Society applied to be affiliated, and asked the amount of such fee. — Affiliation granted, and date (January 1) approved ; fee to be £1 Is.

The following programmes were approved : —Waikouaiti, Dunback. Mount Ida, Kaitangata, Port Molyneux, Duntroon, Berwick. Otago Caledonian Society (championship). Roxburgh, m& Clutha gatherings.

The secretary was instructed to write to Messrs Thornley, Keppell, and Tweedie informing them that on receipt of a fee of 5s their disqualifications would be considered, and probably removed. The Secretary Otago Labour Day Association^ wrote re entry fees amounting to 4s as being owing by D. Dodds, of Invercargill, and asking the centre to recover same. — Dodds io be written to re payment of amount owing, failing which he be placed en the defaulters' li«t. The Secretary Dunback Caledonian Society wiote asking if it were possible that registration be not enforced for quoiting. — To be informc-J that the centre had no power to act as suggested. The question of the Brighton Caledonian Society affiliating was hung up pending a reply to a communication forwarded them by ths president.

A letter from the Now Zealand Athletic Ctiion re defaulters, disqualifications, annual meeting, etc.. was received.

It was decided to presont ssven medal 9 for competition at the championship gathering, as follows: — Most points piping, dancing, running, field events (hammer, ball, and cabsr). and -wrestling-, best all-round athlete, ?.nd juvenile dencing-.

It wa3 decided that a smo<te concert be ■besrrdered visiting delegates, sports representatives, and successful competitors on the Tiig'ht of January 2. when the medals and championship certificates would be presented.

It was decided to send the following remits to the New Zealand Athletic Union's annual meeting: — "That the words 'and an auditor ' be deleted from rule 5 and from clause c. rule 11, of the constitution of the union."

Mr W. M'Donald was appointed official handicapper. Accounts amounting- to £1 11s were passed for payment. It was decided to hold the next monthly meeting on Wednesday, 9th December.
