DUSEDIX FANCIERS' CLi B.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Dunedin Fanciers' Club was held on the 6th inst. There were about 40 membeiß present, and Mr J. A Park (president) was chairman. ANNUAL BEPOBT. The annual report was aa follows: — " Once/more it is possible to report a most successful year, both as regards finance and ' fancy.' The bn!once of receipts over expenditure in respect to the year's show amounted to some £29, and there can ba n<r question but that, favoured with finer ■weather and less counter attractions in iheform of theatrical amusements, there would also have been a considerable dixninnion of the bank overdraft. As regards number of entries, all classes and section* showed » considerable increase, and the judgee— Mr Woodward, of Ballarat (poultry and pigeons), Mr Maude, of Sydney (dogs), Mr T. Hide, of Dunedin (can*rres). trad Mr Ferguson, of Dunedin (pets) — were unanimous in the opinion that the quality of exhibits reflected great credit upon 'the fanciers of the dominion. Mr Woodward, through the Australian public press, h*s Bt*ted that, as regards accommodation, show fittings, and geceral arrangements, the Dunedin Fancier Club's show is second to none in th* Southern Hemisphere. An interesting function during the year was the handing to Mr Webster (treasurer) of * handsome present by the committee 'on the occasion of his leaving for the United States of America upon a holiday trip. The presentation was made by the president (Mr J-. A. Park), who expressed to the' recipient the high regaTd in which he was held by the members of the committee and club generally, and wished him a pleasant holiday. The comtnitlee regrets to record that during its term of effice a prominent fancier was disqualified from showing for a short period. Attendance at meetings has, as usual, been most satisfactory during tho year, aad much enthusiasm has been shown by members generally in the •interests of the chib. X is, howev*r s but fair to report that the services of Mr Henderson (superintendent of shtiw) and of Mr E. S. Wilson (secretary), bo-th throughout the year an-d during the stress of slum week, deserve special mention. "• The statement in the balance sheet of liabilities and expenditure showed that the total indebtedness of the^Fub amounted to £I*l-63.' ' . The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet, and refeired to the fact .that the club was still on the wrong side of the ledger. The receipts for tho past year were somewhat less than was the case the previous year, owing chiefly to bad weather and counter attractions. He further stated that he thought that ihe club should take steps to reduce tho cost of judging. Mr Kerr seconded the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr P. Oarolin, in speaking to the motion, eaid he would like to suggest as a means of curtailing the expenditure the cessation of giving prize certificates till the club was out of debt, and he thought that the cost of judges was too heavy. The amount of prize money 6hould be cut down somewhat. Mr H. P. Harvey eaid he was rather afraid that after the remarks parsed the incoining cornmiiTce< might take it that thc r would have to cut down expenses, and uo\-.ld do so to the club's detriment. They had several disadvantages >- contend with last year, and lie thought that they must havo good judges, as much depended on them. The club should not get too mean. He thought that ihe certificates should be continued, a^ they had a name to keep up, and their'<s was < red i fed with btring the b"fctappointed chow couth cf the Line. They should live up to,tibai and tiy to incrcfise the intereat and "give the specials to other sections which were net now so popular. Mi A. A. Binnie stated that the main thing was the judge's fees. He said that he believed that Mr Woodward judged the Ashburton show /or ■ £8, while- they had to pay ham £25. Mr P. Carol in said another point was the nv&mbert' fees. He thought all town member* should pay 10s and outside members Ss-^as was done in Christchurch,— s& of- the town members' fees, going to special prises. The motion was carried. OFFICE-BEAHEBS. The following office-bearers were elected : Patrons. Hon. G. M'Lean, M.L.C., and Mr S. S. Myers ; president. Mr J. A. Park ; \ ice-presidents— Messrs J. Kerr, H. P. Har\ey. E. Webster, and W.
