The Canterbury Centre of the 'New Zealand Bowling Association met on Thursday evening, Mr F. W. Jo'hir.ston presiding. The following were nominated as officebearers for" the"-council of the association: President, Mr John Brown; vice-president, Mr J- M. Gallaway; councillors—Mefsrs Austin,- Dall, W. Waddell, C. Fraser, H. Jones, and A. E. Smith;, treasurer, Mr F. Smith. . - • " Considerable" discussion ensued on a motion by Mr Dall proposing to abolish deadieaxis, and on the motion of Mr M. Brown it ,was resolved to affirm the principle that dead-heads should* be abolished. On the motion of -Mr M. Brown it was also resolved—"That, "in the event of the jack being driven; out of the confines of the rink, it shall be brought back to the nearest point within the confines from the place where it came to rest; this not to interfere with the present method of play when the jack remains in the ditch within i the confines." j The Secretary <Mr F. A. Saxton) said: that he and the president 'had outlined a I programme for the New Zealand tournament, to be Jield <rt Clrristchurch in the beginning of the year. Assuming that . there were 96 entries in the rinks., it was i _ proposed to commence play on the first } day (Monday) at 8.30 a.m., and finish the first game at 11 a.m. The next game would be commenced at 11.15 and finished at 1.45 p.m., and after the luncheon adjournment the third game would be commenced at 2.30 p.m. and finished at 5 p.m. Two games would be played on Tuesday morning, commencing at the same time, and in the afternoon sectional ties could be played, and a commencement could be .made with the Doubles, of whioh it had been assumed there would be 189. On Wednesday by 10.45 a.m. it had been calculated that there would be 95 doubles left to play, and 47 by 1.15 p.m. It was proposed to play the first test game on Wednesday afternoon, and to play the finals < of the Rinks by Thursday. On Friday the '• Singles aaxl the finals of the Doubles could be played, and on Saturday the Singles i could be decided.
