January 26. — Windy and di*s weather iv still prevalent. Pasture ai;d crops of all kinds are much in need of more moisture, as th»feed is getting scaice for want of raiu. The< weather for the past three weeks has been very warm — hot, scorching days, one after the ether, without a. shower of any kind. The- crops are ripening fast, most farmers about here having tneir crop 3 cut and stacked. The potatoes are. in flower, and % good shower of rain would be very beneficial both for them and the turnips. Roads.— l notice the county has the grader at work repairing the roads. It ia a good! plan to get them repaired at this time of the year, as they will thus get solid for winter, and the rains will not wash the dirt away. Mining. — Most miners about here are idle just now, as ther# is no water with which! to work. A good number have left the district, to go to a busier place and try their luck.
Shearing. — Shearing ia a thing o\ ihe pas*, all the shearers fmving left to start somewhere else. Some of them must make nic« little cheques 1 . — tArrirecV too late for lasi week's issue. — Ed.]
