THE DOMINION'S FINANCES.
A REMARKABLY SATISFACTORY' .POSITION. - . WELLINGTON, January 23. ' Referring to New Zealand's finances, the) Prime Minister, in an interview to-day, said that the Dominion was m a remarkably satisfactory financial position, fullji justifying the confidence that people gener-, elly had in the Dominion. It also emphasised what he had said in a genera* way before, that never m the history o* the country— at least during his public.life—had the finances been upon such a solid basis as to-day. From information, he had received there was no cause for.the fear that some people had expressed l as to the tightness of the money market- * There was no scarcity of money in tne : Dominion, and in addition he t had lot some weejes received information from high influential quarters in the OH Country that there th«y~did not expect, even m the face of the American- financial troubles, that money wodld continue to be tightir London for any length of time.
