" AUCKIxA^p MAN'S FAILURE. AUCKLAND, January 11. A gentleman well-known in Auckland i commenced a rigorous fast on Saturday ■. ' morning last. He presented* himself to Dr ' Bakewell on Wednesday morning, having then fasted 96 hourß. The doctor did not think he was fit to undertake any further fast, but he persevered until yesterday at 10 o'clock, when he again sa*w Dr Bakewell, i and expressed his intention of giving up the fast that day. Dr Bakewell examined. Jiie blood under the misooscope, and found j it in an extraordinary condition — unexampled in hie experience.
