EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS. BLENHEIM. September 30.
' The total for the twenty-second week of the Now Zealand egg-laying competition is 2773, which is a record. This brings the grand total up to 35,905, and the weekly average to 27.73 eggs per pen. To-day completes the fifth month of the competition: The prize for tho month is taken by E. Traherne's black Orpingtons, from Christchurob, which are credited with 152, this being a record. Second place is filled by Sha-w's white Leghorns from Blen- ! heim with 148. For third place there is a tie, 14-7 being returned by both Murphy's rose comb black Orpingtons and J. France's white Leghorns from Blenheim. The total for the month is 11,581 eggs. In. the grand aggregate Leger's white Leghorns from Levin are still leading strongly with 630, Brook's white Leghorns from South Aus- , tralia are second with 565, the Marlborongh

The 'statement for tho twenty-second week of the Now Zealand Utility Poultry Cktb's E SS -la.yin S Competition at Lincoln College shows that 893 eggs were laid during the week, an average of 23.5 per pen, making the total to date of 12,502— an average of 329 par pon. During Septomber 4-140 egg< were laid, and on September 6 160 eggs were laid, being the largest number in any one day. The following stand highest for the week:— H.
