GERMAN COLONIES
— BERLIN, September 26. ; At the Congress of the Progessive party at Wiesbaden, Herr Kopsch, a member of the Reichstag, mov.ed a resolution condemning the Government's colonial policy. He urged the abandonment of it, since the Motherland nad expended £26,000,000 during the decade for infinitesimal results. Another deputy declared that the colonies were so worthless that it was doubtful whether any nation would bid for them if they were offered for sale. The resolution was carried unanimously. The Withbaies' success reported as official at Capetown is contradicted by General Trotha. He admits, however, that some cattle were stolen, but says that the i bulk of them were recovered. CAPETOWN, September 26. The Cap© Argus publishes interviews it has had with the Boers recently engaged as transport assistants in Damaraland. They state that they were compelled to take flight. They saw the Germans execute, at least 25 native women and , children as spies, and themselves were once 1 forced to shoot two wounded prisoners. They are prepared to make affidavits concerning the truth of these statements.
