'VIENNAp September 26. The. Executive Committee of the, Hungarian Coalition has expressed 'the deepest regret at the Emperor Josef not listening to the representatives of the majority of the people. A meeting has been called for the defence of the Constitution. Deputies to the Diet who are outside the Coalition but who desire to participate have been invited.

The Hungarians' Coalition manifesto declares that some of the points in, the Emperor Josef's programme are unconstitutional, and that his attitude in respect to the army abolishes Hungary's right to control her own affairs.

September 28.

The agitation in favour of universal ,suffrage is spreading like wildfire throughout Hungary and Austria.

BUDA-PESTH, September 28.

One thousand Socialists came in conflict with some middle-class citizens who were barring their way to the Independence Club. Forty persons were stabbed and otherwise injured, eight e.iverely. ■ The majority of the wounded belong to the middle class.
