' The ordinary monthly meeting of the Otago i Land Board, held on Thursday, wae attended 1 by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr D. Barron), Messrs W. Dallas, J. Tough, G. Livingstone, and J. M. M'Kenzie. Thomas E. Erskine wrote stating that he considered the rent fixed for license to occupy section 13 block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Estate was rather too high. — Resolved that rent be £i for six months' license. D. A. M'Lachlan applied for a grazing license o^er any of the following sections : 7, 8, and 21, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Estate. — To be informed sections have been previously dealt with. Edward Gray wrote asking that he be ! gianted a three months' license over section 21, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Estate, instead of six months, ps previously applied for, and stating that he considered the rent fixed for the six months' license too high.— Resolved that rent be £5 for six months' license. Mrs E. Brown wrote withdrawing her application for an occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894," over 35 acres on run No. 211, Kyebum district.— Received. The Chief Surveyor forwarded plan of section 45, block V, "Teviot district, occupation leasehold granted to Campbell Watson, and section 46, same block, occupation leasehold granted to Margaret and Donald Gunn. Board was requested to fix the rental.— Rent in each case was fixed at Is per acre. R. L. M'Bean, lessee of section 34, M?erewhenua Estate, wrote asking if the board -would take steps to prevent the Maerewhenua River from coming over his section. — To be informed board is unable to assist him in the matter. , Andrew Richardson applied for a. sawmill license to cut timber over sections 6, 7, 14, 15, block VIII, Tautuku district, with sections 14, 15. 20, and 21, block X, Tautuku district, as a reserved area.— Hejd over for report from ranger; applicant to limit his application to an area of 800 acres. The board was requested to determine as to how section 11, block XIII, Moeiaki district, be dealt with at the expiry of the license held by Craig Brothers.— The question of removing the reservation was referred to Mr M'Kenzie and ranger for leport. Silas Hore wrote asking the boaid to reconsider decision in regard to the applications by himself to transfer section 35, block XI, Maniototo district, to A. J. Paterson, and by J. S. Shepherd to transfer section 33, block XI, same district, to Silas Hore.— Received. J. Neilson wrote stating that he had abandoned his grazing license 1631 over part section 19, block VII. Moeraki district.— License declared lapsed. W. M. Harris applied for a grazing license over Crown lands lying between his section 5, block VI, Catlins district, and Chloria Creek.— License granted at a rental of 20s j>er annum. The board was recraested to fix the capital value of section 9," block XV, Tiger Hill district, 1 acre.— Fixed at 10s per acre. JT. Duggan and E. Wallington wrote asking the board to reopen their applications for an area of 100 acres each on run No. 223 a, Matakanui, under "" The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894."— Received. A. H. Tamblyn applied for a renewal of his yearly license over_J2 acres in block 11, Teviot district.— Held over for further report. John Werner, on behalf of Mrs Mary Wood, applied for her exemption from, residence on section 16, block V, Cromwell district, ( held by her under occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894.' —Declined, as board has no power to grant exemption from residence on occupation leases. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by Thomas Chapman for a flaxmill site over oue acre on the east bank of the Back Creek, Rankleburn district.— Left in hands of chairman to deal with. Arthur Craig applied for a license to occupy about 25 acres of the mining reserve fronting parts of sections 2 and 6, block 11, Benger district. Peter Smith made a similar application for the same land. — Referred to ranger for report. A. G. and W. M'Kenzie applied for a lease over section 26, block VIII, Crookston district, water reserve, with the right to fence and plough the section.— Yearly grazing license granted at a rental of 5« per annum. Robert Mackenzie applied for a license to cut props on section 26, block IV, Glenomaru district. — Declined, as section has now been applied for under occupation with rignt-of-purchase. system.
Henry Hurring applied for a flaxmill site license over about 1 acre of the road reserve fronting section 20, block VIII. Tautuku district, or over the area recently held under temporary license by A. L. Sarney, part of section 14, same block.— Gianted on reserve fronting section 20, subject to consent of county council. James Hyslop, lessee of section 54a, Greenfield Settlement, wrote with reference to the putting on of a punt on the river to enable him to work his section.— To be informed board had previously referred this matter to the Roads Department. Henry Hurring wrote stating that he Jiad abandoned the flaxmill site in section 51, block X, Tuapeka East district, over which he was granted a license. — License declared lapsed. The chief surveyor forwarded plan of section 57, block VII, Leaning Rock district, surveyed for Canute P." Beck. The board was requested to fix the capital value.— Capital value fixed at 20s per acre. G-. Whittaker applied for a portion of section 14, block VIII, Tautuku district, as a site for a blacksmith's shop. — Held over. The Chief Surveyor forwarded plan of section 3, block IX, Lower Hawea. district, occupation leasehold granted to James Kane. The board was requested to fix the rental (Brodrick and Chalmer, agents).— Rent to be 6d per acre. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by Robert Cockburn, on behalf of Alfred Maitland, for a license to occupy an area of about 2 acres above the Miller's Flat bridge, block 111, Benger district.— Yearly license grauted at a rental of 5s per annum. The Under-secretary for Lands wrote stating that the Governor had approved of the lessee of pastoral run No. 12. Shotover district, erecting one mile of rabbit-proof fencing on the run. — Received.
George Fache wrote with reference to sections 1 to 22, block VIII, town of Clyde.— Resolved to offer the sections in blocks VIII, XVI, XX, XXVII at an upset price of 20s per quarter acre.
John Law, jun., applied for a license to occupy the Ewebum Creek reserve, opposite section 7, block VI, Maniototo district. — As Mr Docherty had renewed his license the board was unable to deal with the application.
D. J. Wheeler applied for a license to occupy section 30, block 11, St. Bathans district, recently held tinder license by Thos. Keenan.-«-Deelined.
John Thompson forwarded an application by Mrs Annie Fitzgerald to purchase section 91, block VI, Tuapeka West district.—Approved, subject to payment of balance of purchase money.
