DUNEDIN D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Motto —"Union "s stiength." Dear Dot, — The usual weekly meeting of the D.L.F. Literary and Debating Club was held in the clubroom of the Witness Office on Tuesday, September 2G, when there veie present : The president (Harry), in the chair ; Go Hon, T. D. A., C. C. M., Hubert, and 34 menibeis. A letter from our dear old cocirade Black Watch was read at the meeting. Being an open meeting, the following contributed excellent papers : —Santa Claus, "Ilecreation" ; Boy. "Books" ; Tomahawk, "In a Pie-shop" ; George, "The Gentle Burglar" ; Jessica* "Idea's" ; Aieta, "Be Original"; C. C. M., "The True Gentleman"; Go Hon, "Pastimes and Their Dangers"; Piiscilla 11, "The Girls of To-day and Their Education" ; Indian Chief, "On Two Wheels — As Ustial" ; Jessica, "The Man Who Didn I Smile" ; Eogue 11, "Discouragement and Its Dangers" ; Eoby, "Post-bags" ; and T, D. A., "True Marriage." As you see, the themes were varied, and, being treated in an interesting and instructive manner, proved *
source of enjoyment to all. We gratefully acknowledge our indebtedness to our country comrades for the success of our open meetings, and trust they will stand by us as loyally in the future as they have done in the past.
