— It is all very well to blame the girls of to-day for making themselves cheap . (says the Ladies' Field), but the fact re mains that they are cheap, and that the poor things cannot make themselves otherwise. For every eligible man hi society there are at least five-and Irvventy expectant maidens waiting, and the only wondei is that under the circumstances so many of these parties are as nice as they are.
