NEW ZEALAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION. -
At ''the meeting, of the executive of the 1 bove association, held on Friday afternoon, -baerewere present — Messrs C. J. Payne (pre--fident), C. T. Paterson, P.- Peake, W. C. AllSjmtt, P. Miller, J. A. Hoperaffc, M. Sinclair, v Cfeptadn Sundstrum, and the -secretary (Mr -E. T. Wheeler). A- lengthy letter was ■ read from Mr J. L. "Jon€e'\hon. secretary West Australian Association), enclosing copy off a letter 'received ifrom, Mr A.'jH. Hamilton (secretary. Scottish .-Bowling Association) giving particulars as a%6 "the likelihood of a; team of bowlers from 'G]reat Britain touring-the colonies during the Bummer. ' , Tho Secretary intimated that since the -annual meeting he had received the following additional -notices of motion:—^Mr E. H. tScott ' (Koslyn) — " That 'the executive arrange ior intesrclub matches -on W-ecknesdays in the - same manner as those arranged for Saturdays." - The subject was discussed at length. The executive was unanimous that every encouragement should be held out to clubs to arrange matches on the half-holiday. It was ' eventua'ly. decided—" That the secretary wrj te to the -whole of the clubs in tho city and suburban area asking for information as to ithe numbei of rinks they would be prepared "to enter for the Wednesday afternoon [matches" Mr W. A. -Scott (delegate Outram ■Club) moved — " That it "be an instruction fro Ithe 'execavtive that, in the event of the official ■tester deciding that any bowl will not pass "the necessary test to enable it to be stamped with the die of the association, he shall, on ibeing .requested so to do by the owner of -the bowl, alter it, or cause it to be altered, so Ithat it will pass the test." — The executive iiecided it could not undertake to settle the queetftn as to who should be empowered to Sitef bowls. It was a matter for the general Inwiing to decide.' 5 The matter -of bowl- testing is to be pushed forward with all speed, Mr W. Dall (official -jtester) having announced that he was fully prepared to proceed • with his duties as soon is a green was available. ■ -Mr -Wheeler desired ttiat some definite system -of alloEting club colours should be arranged. At present the matter was entirely }n his own hands, and he was not prepared .to undertake the allocation of a distinguishing colour for every club. Many of the clubs Affiliated with the New Zealand Bowling Association wore the same colours. He •thought it "was only fair that a committee ihould be appointed to discriminate in this — A committee was then appointed With full powers to act in the matter of plotting club colours. Mr Miller thought no tarra would be done )£ ihe executive decided that in futtue dele-
gate* shettia be allowed to make suggestions to the govrning body, not by way of notice of motion, but merely that questions affecting clubs might receive consideration. Mr Payne said the association had now become so strong a body that it was abschttely necessary to carry out the affairs of the association in a businesslike mariner. He , had no desire to prevent any delegate vent tilating a grievance or otherwise, but their ! rules were properly constituted, and, that being so, he -was not prepared to deviate from them. It was useless for delegates to expect to attend a meeting and, without notice, raise a crop of discussions for which no-no of them would be prepared. Mr "Wheeler also was of opinion that it , would be unwise for delegates to " spring " questions on a meeting without notice. 1 -Other speakers agreed, and ultimately tlie ! meeting decided to leave the matter in Air ' Payne's hands for the present, it being understood that at a further meeting the question j would b dealt with. j The meeting then terminated.
