CONTINUED SUCCESS OF THE TOUR. A WIN AGAINST NORTHAMPTON. LONDON, September 28. The New' Zealand football team met «a team, from Northamptonshire to-day, and defeated them by 32 points to nothing. The Colonials crossed their opponents' line eight times. The score was made up as follows : — Four converted tries (20 points) and four tries (12 points).

The match. New Zealand v. Northampton attracted 6000 spectators. The Colonials entered their opponents' territory immediately after the kick-off. Within the first quarter of an hour Mynott (Taranaki) scored first blood. The home team were unable to stein the Colonial vanguard's repeated charges, -which were carried out with gneat combination, and in the first spell wer.e continuously on the defensive. Tries were obtained in quick succession by Hunter (Taranaki), Stead (Southland), Harper (Canterbury), and then Hunter again crosed the line. Of the five tries secured up to half-time, Wallace (Wellington), in three instances, by finely-judged kicks, added the extra points. Wb.en the interval was taken the score stood : New Zealand, 21 points ; Northampton, nil. The second spell opened with Northampton still endeavouring to keep the Colonials" off their line, and while the scoring was not so cyclonic as in the previous half the local men were never allowed

to break through the New Zealanders' defence. Tyler (Auckland) was the first to score in this spell, and Wallace was again successful in putting the leather between the posts. Later on the pair of Taranaki backs, Mynott and Hunter, who were playing a very clever game, each secured a try, both of which Wallace failed to convert, however. When the whistle sounded "no side " the score stood : New Zealand, 32 points; Northampton, nil.
